Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani has been conferred with India’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the news this morning.
Modi met Advani and congratulated him for the same. “One of the most respected statesmen of our times, his contribution to the development of India is monumental,” wrote Modi.

Advani was a member of parliament (both houses) between 1970 and 2019. He also served as the Home Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister in the past.
