Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is taking a hands-on approach to the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro, personally inspecting and involving public representatives from the Old City. The Chief Minister directed the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) to prepare extensions for existing Metro corridors, including routes like Miyapur-Chandanagar-BHEL-Patancheruvu, MGBS-Falaknuma-Airport, and more.
Notably, the CM emphasized that none of the 103 identified religious, heritage, and sensitive structures in the Old City would be adversely impacted. The feasibility of laying a part of the Metro at road level in the Laxmiguda-Jalpally-Mamidipally stretch is also under examination, given the availability of a wide central median without obstructions.
Expansion plans for Metro Phase-III encompass routes from JBS Metro station to Shameerpet and from Paradise Metro station to Kandlakoya/Medchal. Furthermore, the Chief Minister envisions Metro Rail connectivity from the Airport area to Kandukur on the Srisailam highway, potentially creating a mega township on lands already acquired for the Pharma city.
