Japan was rattled on New Year’s Day by a massive earthquake that struck the nation. The North-central region experienced a 7.6 magnitude quake on Monday, prompting authorities to issue a Tsunami warning.
Addressing the nation via television, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida urged citizens to adhere strictly to evacuation directives and cautioned about the potential for additional earthquakes and subsequent tsunami waves.

Coastal areas reported waves measuring around 80 centimetres. Presently, there are no reports of significant damage, and the government is actively working to swiftly assess the situation.
