TV star Ashish Kapoor has been arrested in Pune on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, after being accused of rape during a house party in Delhi last month. Kapoor is known for his roles in Saraswatichandra, Dekha Ek Khwaab and Molkki Rishton Ki Agnipariksha.
Police said Ashish Kapoor first connected with the complainant on Instagram. He later invited her to a friend’s house in Delhi, where the alleged incident reportedly occurred inside a washroom.
The FIR initially listed Ashish Kapoor, his friend, the friend’s wife and two others under gang rape charges. Later, the complainant revised her statement, naming only Ashish Kapoor as the accused.
The complainant also claimed that the assault was videographed, but no footage has been recovered yet. Reports further suggest the friend’s wife allegedly assaulted the woman outside the washroom and later called the PCR, which brought the police to the spot.
Investigators tracked Kapoor’s movement after the alleged assault. He travelled from Delhi to Goa before finally being arrested in Pune. Police said legal procedures are in progress, and charges may be revised from gang rape to rape during the inquiry.
Ashish Kapoor’s arrest is another controversy involving television personalities facing grave allegations in recent years. The case is now in the investigation stage, with Delhi Police recording statements and verifying the complainant’s claims.
