HPSEBL officials stated that Ranaut has a history of delayed electricity bill payments and that the current bill included both usage charges and pending dues.

The clarification followed remarks made by Ranaut during a public meeting in Mandi district, where she described the state government as a “pack of wolves” and alleged that her electricity bill was unjustified.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, responding from Gujarat, said he did not take her statements seriously, suggesting that such comments were not unusual for her.

According to HPSEBL Managing Director Sandeep Kumar, the bill dated March 22, 2025, included ₹32,287 in outstanding dues, along with charges for power consumed in January and February.

He noted that the load capacity at her Simsa village property was unusually high- 94.82 kW, about 1,500% more than the average household.

Kumar also revealed that Ranaut had paid previous dues of ₹82,061 late and confirmed she continues to receive government subsidies, including ₹700 for February.

Naresh Chauhan, principal media adviser to the Chief Minister, claimed her statements were a distraction from her poor performance as an MP and dismissed her allegations as baseless.

Attempts to reach Ranaut’s team for comment were unsuccessful.
