Two Techies Die in Kurnool Bus Mishap

A young techie lost her life in the Kurnool bus fire accident that shocked the Telugu states. The victim, Gannamaneni Dhatri, 27, hailed from Pusapadu in Yaddanapudi district and was travelling to Bengaluru, where she worked.

Dhatri had recently visited her maternal uncle’s house in Hyderabad and was returning to Bengaluru in a Vemuri Cauvery Travels bus when the tragic incident occurred.

Another passenger, Anusha Reddy, from Vastakonduru in Gundala mandal, Yadadri district, is also missing and feared dead. Anusha, a software engineer working in Bengaluru, had returned home for Deepavali and boarded the bus at Khairatabad.

The bus, which began its journey from Hyderabad, was heading to Bengaluru when it hit a two-wheeler near Kurnool in the early hours of Friday. The impact caused the bike to get trapped under the vehicle, triggering a massive fire.

The biker managed to escape, but the flames engulfed the bus, killing 19 passengers, including Dhatri, while 21 others sustained minor injuries. Most of the passengers were asleep at the time of the accident.

Police confirmed that one of the drivers is absconding, while the other has been taken into custody for investigation.
