In order to protest against some of the new government policies, the farmers of Germany have brought traffic to a standstill. This unique way of registering their protest was earlier seen last month and has once again gained momentum. A large number of farmers in Germany have blocked major highways across the country with their tractors.
The video of the incident is going viral over the internet. Thousands of tractors can be seen standing in queues on the highways. The farmers have blocked many border crossings with France which has resulted in hours-long traffic jams for commuters.
The farmers of Germany are protesting against cutting subsidies. These subsidy cuts will result in higher prices for commodities like fuel and farm equipment. The impact of it will be visible in the prices of the commodities produced by the farmers. They fear being driven out of the business.
The farmers started assembling near the Brandenburg Gate landmark in Berlin on Sunday evening. According to the government plan, the subsidies on fuel will be cut by 40 percent by this year.
