Sometimes, a single phone call can turn someone’s life upside down. Today’s criminals misuse technology in highly dangerous ways. Even well-educated people are falling into these traps.
Fear and mental pressure can make anyone vulnerable. When such fraud leads to someone’s death, the pain is unimaginable.
In a shocking case from Hyderabad, a retired woman doctor became a victim of cybercrime. On 5th September, she received a WhatsApp video call from people claiming to be Bengaluru police.
They used fake police logos to appear legitimate. They then kept her under “digital arrest” for nearly 70 hours. Just imagine the fear and mental trauma she went through during that time.
Unable to bear the pressure, she suffered a heart attack and passed away. The incident has left people deeply shaken.
If an experienced doctor can be misled like this, what about ordinary citizens? This raises serious concerns about public safety in the digital age.
It’s clear that stricter measures are needed. Both the police and the government must act quickly and firmly to prevent such tragedies.
