Meta's AI Search Engine: Better Than Google?

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has now reportedly decided to build its own AI-powered search engine to compete with the likes of Google and Microsoft Bing.

According to sources, this move is aimed at reducing users’ dependence on third-party search engines like Google.

While Meta AI already existed as an AI chatbot in WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, the company has now decided to extend its capabilities to search.

The new AI-powered search engine is expected to have a conversational tone while providing up-to-date responses to a wide range of user queries. Meta AI is said to be the main driving force behind the search engine.

Meta has also signed a multi-year deal with Reuters, granting its AI access to the news outlet’s content, thus increasing the chatbot’s news-related accuracy.

Meta is also investing significantly to build and refine a comprehensive location database for potential future competition with Google Maps.

While an official announcement is yet to be made by Meta on this matter, a prototype of the search engine was recently seen online, giving a glimpse at the potential advancements in search functionality.

Meta seems to be following the path of other major tech companies such as OpenAI, who have also been working on their own AI-powered search engine named ‘SearchGPT’.
