Actress Sada has strongly protested the Supreme Court order to relocate all street dogs in Delhi-NCR to shelters within eight weeks. The directive, made effective on August 11, 2025, aims to prevent rabies cases and ensure public safety after several child fatalities from dog bites.
Authorities have been tasked with capturing and permanently resheltering approximately three lakh stray dogs. Many experts and animal activists consider this plan unfeasible and fear mass deaths due to insufficient infrastructure for such a large-scale operation.
The verdict has ignited a nationwide debate, and Sada has become one of the most prominent voices opposing it. Known for her acclaimed Telugu and Tamil films like Jayam and Anniyan, she shared an emotional video highlighting the authorities’ lack of preparedness to implement the order effectively.
In the video, Sada expressed that it is impossible to arrange adequate shelters in just eight weeks and warned that the dogs could face death. She said the verdict was breaking her heart, as she did not know how to prevent the authorities from enforcing this decision.
Sada also criticized the move as “inhumane” and highlighted alternative measures such as sterilization and vaccination, arguing that the court order could unnecessarily harm innocent dogs. Her passionate appeal has resonated widely.
Other celebrities, including Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Raveena Tandon, have joined the call for humane solutions. They are advocating adoption drives and long-term care strategies instead of mass confinement or relocation of stray dogs.
The collective stance of these stars has sparked activism within their fan communities. Many people have started urging authorities to reconsider the policy, emphasizing the safety and well-being of vulnerable street animals in Delhi-NCR.
