Philosophers have long argued if humans act morally because they are moral or just because they fear consequences. While there are many who believe in the innate goodness of humanity, evidence surfaces every now and then to support the contrary. A video claimed to be from Agra, Uttar Pradesh is going viral on the internet in which many people can be seen running away with liquor bottles that fell off a truck.
Large number of people have shared the video on social media. It is claimed that 30 crates of liquor fell off a truck which was carrying 110 crates when it hit a bump. This resulted in a commotion as people around started looting the bottles that fell on the ground.
Men, women and kids, everyone can be seen flocking in the middle of the busy street to pick up whatever they can. Some were seen getting away with whole cartons of liquor bottles while a few collected whatever they could in their hands.
The situation created chaos on the road and traffic came to a halt. Many were seen stopping their vehicles to collect the bottles. The viral video lay bares the hollow claims of how civil as a society we are. Perhaps morality and ethics are subject matter of discussion only where there’s prosperity.
