Indore’s Dainik Bhaskar has reported a shocking trend. In the last 40 days, more than 150 weddings were cancelled due to issues linked to social media and family doubts.
Most cancellations happened because of old social media posts or pre wedding shoots. Small posts from years ago created sudden tension between families. Many weddings were stopped at the final stage.
Even cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s wedding was cancelled in a similar manner. Her pre wedding photos and videos were already out. Functions had started, guests were excited, and then everything came to a halt.
A reported family health issue came first. Later, old posts were discussed, pictures disappeared, and the wedding was finally stopped. The sudden end shocked many.
Such last minute cancellations cause huge losses for the wedding industry. Caterers, photographers, decorators and halls lose money because all arrangements are already completed.
The emotional impact is even bigger for both families. Months of planning collapse in a moment. The sudden cancellation leaves deep stress and pain.
It is sad that people are becoming very sensitive about small online posts. A post made years ago should not decide someone’s entire future.
Marriage needs trust, maturity and understanding. If people judge each other for tiny mistakes, then many relationships may break even before they begin.
