India’s Marvel Abused as Nightclub

A viral video showing a group of men playing loud music, dancing, and performing shirtless push-ups inside the Atal Tunnel near Manali has sparked outrage on social media.

Many criticized the tourists for treating a strategic infrastructure project as a place for reckless entertainment.

The 9-kilometre-long Atal Tunnel, which connects Manali and Keylong while bypassing Rohtang Pass, is a crucial engineering marvel. However, some visitors seem to have disregarded its significance.

In the viral video, a group can be seen blaring music and engaging in disruptive activities inside the tunnel. A social media user sarcastically remarked, “Even top engineers never imagined this tunnel would one day serve as a nightclub.”

In response to the incident, Kullu police took action by imposing a fine of ₹1,500 on one of the vehicles involved under Sections 177 and 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The authorities condemned the behavior, emphasizing that such actions not only create a nuisance but also pose safety risks.

Online reactions were largely critical. One user wrote, “No wonder Indians are seen as a nuisance abroad. They don’t even respect their own country.”

Many others pointed out that filming inside the tunnel is illegal, making both the tourists and the person recording the video accountable.

With growing concerns over irresponsible tourist behavior, authorities may need to implement stricter measures to preserve public infrastructure and maintain decorum at such significant sites.
