A viral video by an NRI has revealed the harsh reality of renting an apartment in the UK. Paying ₹1 lakh for a small room with a leaking roof, he compared his experience to living in a crowded chawl (slum) in Mumbai.

Aryan Bhattacharya shared a video showing his one-room apartment in London with leaks in the ceiling. He continuously mentioned that even after paying ₹1 lakh rent he is forced to live like this as no plumber responded to his requests at night.

The video went viral on Instagram getting more than 400K views and hundreds of comments left by Indian users. One user even claimed he could get a better house in India for just ₹8,000.

Others weren’t kind to him either as they criticized Aryan for not doing the due diligence before moving into the apartment. “Either research before making a decision or stop complaining. You chose to go to the UK, knowing how expensive it is,” a user commented on his video.
