Many people called the display excessive and disrespectful to Indian traditions. One user wrote, “This is the vulgarity of nouveau riche India,” while another sympathized with the bride’s family, saying, “RIP to the bride; her dad should have sent the baraat back.”
There are people, who believe that such flashy weddings replace meaningful customs with showy displays meant for social media. Hiring foreign dancers, they argue, takes away from the cultural significance of Indian weddings.
Not everyone was critical, though. Some users joked about the situation, with comments like “monthly alimony” and “India is now giving jobs to Russian immigrants.”
