
A woman from Keraluru village in Belur taluk, Karnataka, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to poison her family members to continue an illicit relationship.
The accused, 33-year-old Chaitra, is said to have mixed poison into the family’s food with help from her partner Shivu, a local villager. The incident has shocked residents and is under active police investigation.

According to Mohammad Sujeetha, the Superintendent of Police, Chaitra was married to Gajendra for the past eleven years. The couple has two sons.
Over the last three years, Chaitra frequently quarreled with her husband and engaged in multiple extramarital affairs. After her first affair was discovered, Gajendra informed her parents and the couple briefly reconciled following family mediation.

However, Chaitra soon became involved with Shivu. Fearing opposition from her husband, children, and in-laws, she allegedly conspired to eliminate them.
Police reports state that she laced the family’s food with poison, but her plan was foiled when the victims began showing signs of illness.

The family members were taken for medical attention, and Gajendra filed a complaint with Belur police. A preliminary investigation revealed the plot, leading to the arrest of both Chaitra and Shivu.
Authorities say further questioning is underway to determine the full extent of the plan and whether any others were involved.
Chaitra and Shivu are currently in police custody as the legal process moves forward.
