Are Breakups Pushing India’s Youth Toward Suicide?

Youth suicide prevention support

Many young people in India face stress, sadness, and loneliness. Challenges with studies, jobs, relationships, and health make life hard for them. Sometimes, these problems become so overwhelming that some youngsters think about ending their lives.

Last year, the Snehi Suicide Prevention Helpline received nearly 23,000 calls from people feeling hopeless. Most callers were young boys and girls. Counsellors say that with care, support, and guidance, many lives can be saved.

We should also remember the trust parents place in their children. Parents dream of their children achieving great things and supporting them in old age.

They work hard, sacrifice their own wishes, and meet every need of their children, hoping to see them happy and successful. This is why children should think deeply before taking such a painful step.

This shows the importance of talking about our feelings. Asking for help is not a weakness. Even one kind word or a listening ear can give hope to someone struggling.

On World Suicide Prevention Day, let us all check on our friends and loved ones. A small conversation can save a life.
