Ashwin Questions Babar’s Future in T20 Cricket

Ashwin questions Babar Azam T20 game

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has raised serious concerns over Babar Azam and his T20 cricket approach. His remarks come at a time when Pakistan and their captain are facing heavy criticism.

Ashwin stated that Babar Azam has not yet fully understood his game in the T20 format. He explained that modern T20 cricket demands batters to possess multiple scoring options.

According to Ashwin, Babar’s strike rate remains below 100 against left arm spinners, left arm pacers, and pace bowlers. He added that such numbers make it hard for a batter to dominate in today’s fast paced T20 game.

Ashwin also pointed out that Babar does not frequently use shots like the sweep or reverse sweep. He believes these shots are crucial to release pressure and score freely in difficult situations.

He further said that Babar is not utilising different areas of the field. This, according to Ashwin, makes him predictable and easier to plan against for bowlers.

Despite the criticism, Ashwin made it clear that he respects Babar Azam’s talent. He described him as a fantastic player with great ability.

However, Ashwin stressed that to become a great player, Babar needs to adapt. He said improvements in approach and shot selection are necessary to succeed consistently in T20 cricket.

Ashwin’s comments have sparked fresh debate among fans. The controversy has intensified, especially as Pakistan remain under pressure following their recent loss to India.
