CT 2025: India Crushes BD; Pakistan & NZ Waiting

Bangladesh decided to bat after winning the toss and India would be hoping to put pressure on them with a big total. But Bangladesh’s plans went awry.

Young paceman Harshit Rana, made an impact straight away, disturbing the top order of Bangladesh. Mohammed Shami joined the attack and together they ripped through the batting lineup.

In no time Bangladesh was 35/5 and the match seemed to be slipping away. It looked like India would win comfortably but cricket is a game of surprises.

Just when the game seemed dead Towhid Hridoy brought it back to life. He played one of the best knocks of his career, absorbed the pressure and counter attacked with a century.

Jaker Ali played a gritty hand alongside him and their partnership took Bangladesh to 228 before they were all out.

It wasn’t a big total but given the slow nature of the pitch it gave their bowlers a chance to make it tough.

India needed a good start while chasing 229 and Rohit Sharma provided just that. The Indian captain looked good, played his shots fluently and scored a well made 41.

But just when he was looking to anchor the chase he fell at the wrong time and gave Bangladesh a glimmer of hope.

The pitch was slowing down and Bangladesh bowlers sensed an opportunity. But in the midst of all this India’s ‘Prince’—Shubman Gill—never looked nervous.

He handled the conditions well, played risk free cricket and didn’t give any unnecessary hiccups.

With a well paced century Gill once again proved why he is India’s next batting superstar.

KL Rahul played a steady hand and their partnership took India home comfortably.

While Shami’s 5 wickets was the highlight of India’s bowling Axar Patel had a golden moment of his own. He was on the verge of a hat-trick having taken two wickets in two balls.

The crowd held its breath as he bowled the next one—only for Rohit Sharma to drop the catch!

A rare hat-trick opportunity slipped away but Axar still took crucial wickets and played a big role in India’s win.6 wickets is a great start but India cannot be complacent.

The slow pitch exposed the challenges and the next matches in ICC Champions Trophy will get tougher.

The team will have to give their 100% as the conditions are tough and Pakistan and New Zealand are waiting.

If India wants to go all the way they need to adapt fast, strengthen their middle order and make sure all others step up when needed.

This win was a good statement but the real test begins now. Can India continue to dominate? Next match will tell.
