Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in the third match of IPL 2026 on Monday at Guwahati.
RR won the toss and chose to bowl first, and the decision worked in their favour. CSK could only manage 127 runs, which RR chased easily in just 13 overs.
Chasing 128, Rajasthan got off to a fast start. Vaibhav Suryavanshi attacked from the beginning and put CSK under pressure straight away.
He scored 52 runs in just 17 balls, hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes. He reached his fifty in only 15 balls. By the time he got out, RR had already reached 75 runs and the match was almost done.
Yashasvi Jaiswal played his role from the other end. Dhruv Jurel scored 18 runs but could not stay long. After that, Riyan Parag and Jaiswal finished the chase without any trouble.
CSK had a poor outing with the bat. They lost early wickets and never really recovered.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson both scored 6 runs, while Ayush Mhatre got out for zero and Matthew Short managed only 2. Sarfaraz Khan tried to build something with 17 runs but got out at the wrong time. Shivam Dube and Kartik Sharma also failed to make an impact.
Jimmy Overton was the only positive for CSK as he scored 43 runs and helped the team reach 127.
RR bowlers did their job well throughout the innings. Nandre Burger and the rest of the attack kept picking wickets and did not allow CSK to settle at any stage.
This is a strong start for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, while Chennai Super Kings will need to fix their batting quickly going forward.
