Hindi Commentary Frustration: Ind-Pak in Every Game

Hindi commentary panel controversy

The Hindi commentary panel has come under heavy criticism after the World Cup match between Sri Lanka and Oman. Many viewers questioned the lack of focus during the live broadcast.

Social media users expressed frustration that a large part of the match discussion revolved around the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash. Fans felt there was little situational awareness about the actual game being played.

Commentators reportedly analysed players such as Usman Tariq, Kuldeep, Bumrah, Babar Azam and Saim Ayub. Ironically, none of these players were involved in the Sri Lanka vs Oman contest.

Several cricket followers said the obsession with the India Pakistan rivalry is becoming excessive. They argued that viewers tuning in for a specific match deserve relevant commentary.

At the same time, a section defended the panel. They claimed the commentators were likely following broadcaster instructions to build hype around the marquee clash.

Supporters of this view said the Hindi audience is largely Indian. Hence, broadcasters may be focusing on the rivalry to meet audience interest.

Despite the debate, many users criticised Hotstar for what they called declining quality in Hindi commentary. They urged the platform to create a separate show for India Pakistan discussions.

As things stand, frustrated viewers say they are switching to the English feed. For now, there seems to be little sign of immediate change in approach.
