There is fresh news from the Indian camp ahead of the high-voltage clash against Pakistan. Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy has shared a key update on Abhishek Sharma’s fitness.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Varun said he had spoken to Abhishek Sharma. The opener looked better and is expected to rejoin the ICT soon. He had missed the Namibia match due to illness.
Varun said, “I think he will play the next match, I don’t know. But as far as I have spoken to him, he looks good, and he did some practice today also. He said that he is on the way.”
His statement has given fans some hope. However, skipper Surya sounded cautious. He said Abhishek’s health is still not fully fine and he could miss a few more games.
Abhishek’s absence allowed Sanju Samson to return to the XI against Namibia. But he could not make the most of the chance. Sanju scored 22 runs in 8 balls before being caught by Louren Steenkamp.
India’s opening combination may face pressure if Abhishek does not recover in time. The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash is set for 15th February, 2026. Fans will hope to see him back in blues for the big match.
