Team India was horrendous with the bat again in the third test match against Australia, which has completed its fourth day today.
With the senior stars, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failing miserably in the first innings, the onus was on Ravindra Jadeja to steer the team from deep trouble. He managed to do so, with his fighting knock of 77 runs.
In the end, responsibility fell on the shoulders of Jaspreet Bumrah and Akash Deep, as they had to salvage the first innings by avoiding follow on.
In a miraculous event, Bora and Akash, somehow found the perfect balance and managed to get the 30 runs that were needed to avoid the follow on. This was a strong effort from the last batting partnership of India.
Now that the miraculous folloon has been avoided, India is now left with a strong hope of drawing this test match on the fifth day. But even for that to happen, India must bowl exceptionally well in the opening exchanges of the final day of the test match.
In the second innings, there is no other option, but for Virat and Rohit to deliver big time for the team. It is time for them to shoulder the responsibility and keep things going.
A loss against Australia on the fifth day of the test match, would mean that India would move that much further away from the World test championship. This would be a disaster, if we aren’t there already.
As it pans out, the final day of the test match is going to be reverting one with both teams having a go at each other.
