India and Afghanistan will play a three match T20I series in September. The matches will be played in Delhi on September 13, 15 and 17.
Afghanistan have already announced their 15 member squad. India are yet to announce their team.
The biggest question is around Abhishek Sharma. He did not have a good run in the recent Zimbabwe series and also struggled against England.
Will the selectors give him another chance, or will Sanju Samson return Samson was rested for the Zimbabwe series after winning the Player of the Tournament award at the 2026 T20 World Cup. He is now expected to be in the mix for the Afghanistan series.
Arshdeep Singh is also likely to return. India’s leading T20I wicket taker was rested for the Zimbabwe tour.
Another name to watch is Mayank Yadav. He impressed against Zimbabwe and has also done well in the Delhi Premier League.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube and Ravi Bishnoi are expected to keep their places.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has performed well in the IPL, but his return to the Indian team is still unlikely.
India’s likely squad includes: Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Ravi Bishnoi, Prince Yadav and Suryansh Shedge.
