Rohit Sharma’s recent drop in fitness is not something that has been kept under wraps. It has been out in the public, and he has also received a lot of criticism for it, some deserved, others not so much.
After MI’s recent game against PBKS, on-field pictures of Rohit Sharma started to make rounds just because of the fact that they showed his somewhat protruded belly.
Many came forward to criticize his fitness, which they should, as he represents their own nation on an international level, and the public has every right to hold him accountable if he isn’t maintaining his body up to the standards.
But going over the line and calling him ‘pregnant’ doesn’t do justice to the stature that he has achieved so far by winning 2 ICC trophies for his nation on top of winning 5 IPL trophies for MI.
It also doesn’t help that many so-called ‘funny’ people took to the comments to ask Grok to ‘make his belly like that of a pregnant woman’.
Is this how we want to treat our World Cup winning legends? We have every right to fiercely question him regarding his fitness and performance.
But if a few bad league matches are turning the Indian captain into a ‘pregnant’ woman, then perhaps we need to rethink inside to see what kind of fans we are.
