When it comes to the list of top Indian test cricket batters, names like Yashasvi Jaiswal at number 4, Shubman Gill at number 6, and Rishabh Pant at number 7 come to mind.
But there is one name that, although massively significant, has not been able to leave its imprint on the World rankings as it so happens to be.
And that name is KL Rahul. There is no doubt about KL’s capabilities when it comes to having the best class and technique in red ball cricket, hence the 40th ranking.
But there is a major issue that needs to be addressed. While KL is a brilliant batter, most of the time he fails to convert his talent into actual statistics.
Either he begins to play too defensively or gets scared under pressure and plays a wrong shot. This has led to him not performing for the team when the need was most for him to contribute.
As time goes on, Rahul will need to work on these gaping issues. If he manages to address these, then there is no doubt that he will soon find his name on the list of top 10 test batters.
Otherwise, the time may not be far away when he will potentially get replaced with another player who is able to execute his talent in a better way than KL.
