There is no doubt about the fact that Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been playing phenomenal cricket in this season of the IPL, so much so that they have won seven consecutive away games to make their place in the top 2 of the leaderboard.
This means that RCB would now get a chance to play Qualifier 1 after a long while, facing a deadly PBKS lineup in Punjab.
Although RCB itself looks unbeatable, the heavy baggage it carries from the past has led to many players thinking whether it can really clinch the trophy, especially given its extremely poor track record.
It was not like RCB didn’t get many playoff chances in the past. They definitely did. But they were unable to make use of those chances, failing miserably each time to get eliminated.
Be it 2020, 2021, or 2024, RCB was always the one to get eliminated. Things didn’t change even in 2022 when they did make it to Qualifier 2 but lost to RR there as well.
So it’s only natural that RCB fans are counting their each and every anxious breath, desperately hoping for their team to break the cycle of defeats to bring home their first-ever IPL trophy.
Will it finally happen? Well, we’ll have to wait and watch to see if luck favours Kohli and Company this time around.
