Gautam Gambhir doesn’t smile, doesn’t praise. Well, that may sound pleasant only until you know it is justified. But it seems like GG tries his best to be salty at his own players, even if they give the best performance they can and contribute to the fullest.
When asked about Rishabh Pant’s back-to-back centuries, GG seemed to take it to heart, immediately reminding the person behind the mic that there were 3 more centuries from the Indian side.
Following this, Gambhir was heavily bashed on social media. People called him jealous, highlighting his hypocrisy whenever it came to praising genuine talent in the team.
What people don’t understand is GG’s perpetual enmity against praising someone who is genuinely performing well in the team.
GG has always been this way about individual performances. Maybe it’s time to change that. Perhaps it’s time for him to realise that sometimes individual performances need to be praised for players to remain motivated to repeat them.
Otherwise, we may just witness yet another BGT-level disaster in this series as well.
