Lucknow Super Giants secured their first win of IPL 2026 with a five wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. The result came at SRH’s home ground and raised concerns about their performance.
Playing at home should have helped SRH. They knew the pitch and conditions well. Yet, the batting collapse made things difficult and left fans surprised.
The trouble started early in the innings. Abhishek Sharma was out for 0, Travis Head could not stay long, and Ishan Kishan scored just 1 run.
These are key players in good form. When all of them fail together, the pressure builds quickly on the team.
After the early setbacks, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy tried to steady the innings. They built a strong partnership and gave some hope to SRH.
Klaasen played an impressive knock of 62. He attacked the bowlers and kept the scoreboard moving. Nitish supported him well with a solid 56 runs.
Once both were dismissed, the lower order could not continue the momentum. SRH managed to reach 156, but it did not look enough.
In the chase, Lucknow Super Giants also had a slow start as Mitchell Marsh got out early. However, the middle order handled the situation well.
Aiden Markram scored 45 and built a useful partnership. But the standout performer was Rishabh Pant.
Pant played a calm and controlled innings. He scored 68 off 50 balls and stayed till the end, guiding LSG to victory without pressure.
This was a strong captain’s knock from Pant. His approach made the difference in the chase.
Looking at SRH’s season so far, the results have been mixed. They lost their first match against RCB, won the second against KKR, and now lost again.
The bigger concern is their inconsistency, especially at home. Losing in familiar conditions will worry the team management.
SRH had the advantage but failed due to a weak start. Klaasen and Nitish tried to recover, but the total was not enough.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant led from the front and finished the match smartly. LSG will gain confidence from this win, while SRH need to fix their top order quickly.
