Virat Kohli Calls Wrong Number, Police Steps In

A simple wrong number ended up creating a story that cricket fans in Chhattisgarh will remember for years. For Manish, a young man from Madagaon, it all began when he started getting calls from some of the biggest names in cricket.

How a Cricket Star’s Old Number Caused Chaos

The number Manish received once belonged to Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Rajat Patidar. Patidar had not used it for over 90 days, leading the telecom company to deactivate and reassign it. Manish activated his new Reliance Jio SIM in June and noticed Patidar’s picture as the WhatsApp display photo.

Unexpected Calls From Cricket Legends

Soon after, Manish began getting calls from unknown numbers, followed by names every cricket fan knows — Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Both were trying to contact Patidar. Manish and his friend Khemraj assumed it was a prank. Even when Patidar himself called to explain, they joked, “And we are MS Dhoni.”

Police Step In to Resolve the Mix-Up

Patidar explained that the number was important as it was shared with his coaches, teammates, and close friends. When the friends still did not believe him, he warned that the police would get involved. Within minutes, local police reached Manish’s house, prompting the friends to return the SIM without argument.

A Story That Stayed in the Village

For Khemraj, the incident was unforgettable. “Because of a wrong number, I got to talk to Kohli. My life’s goal is fulfilled,” he said. The number went back to Patidar, but Madagaon, a small village, briefly became the centre of cricket’s biggest conversations.
