Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran movie is going to be released on October 31st as a Diwali special. This was officially confirmed by the production house with the release of a poster. Already, Suriya’s Kanguva, Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, and Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi were planned to release in the month of October.
Suriya’s Kanguva, directed by Siruthai Siva, is going to be released on October 10th; this was already confirmed, and the production houses were planning to start their promotion. Vettaiyan was also planned to release on October 10th, and the team shared a release poster for the movie a few months ago. But Kanguva’s producer, KE Gnanavel Raja, mentioned in a recent interview that Vettaiyan was planned to release on Diwali, so we were aiming for an October 10th release, and moreover, his films won’t clash with Rajinikanth’s movie as he is his idol.
On the other hand, Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi was also in a pressure situation to release the movie in the month of October, as per the strong industry buzz that Netflix, which has the OTT rights to Vidaamuyarchi as per the agreement, asked the production house to release the movie in the month of October. Lyca Productions was the producer for both Vettaiyan and Vidamuyarchi. On the other hand, Amaran and Vidamuyarchi’s OTT rights were with Netflix, and their distribution rights were with Red Giant Movies.
Also, Red Giant Movies bagged the distribution rights of Amaran, Vettaiyan, and Vidamuyarchi. So there was lots of confusion between the release dates of these movies, and there is definitely an opportunity for a clash between any of these two movies. October is going to be a big blast for Tamil cinema audiences, as 4 biggies are going to be released in just 20 days.
