Dhanush attended Prabhu Deva’s first-ever dance concert in Chennai yesterday, and videos of him at the event are now trending on social media, drawing severe backlash from netizens.
His third directorial venture, Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK), was released on December 21st and received positive responses from audiences. However, despite this, the film is underperforming at the box office. Apart from Chennai, NEEK is struggling in most B and C centers, where it is almost a washout.
Many netizens blame Dhanush for the film’s failure, arguing that since NEEK features a cast of debut actors, his presence in promotional activities was crucial. They believe that had Dhanush actively promoted the film, it could have seen better box office numbers.
On the other hand, his fans defended him, saying that he was busy with other shooting commitments, which is why he couldn’t attend NEEK’s promotions.
However, Dhanush’s appearance at Prabhu Deva’s dance concert has shocked even his fans, with many questioning his priorities. If he had time for the event, why didn’t he make time for his own film’s promotions? Is he deliberately avoiding NEEK? If so, why did he direct a film with newcomers in the first place?
Meanwhile, with Dragon turning into a blockbuster, NEEK is now at risk of losing screens next week. It remains to be seen how NEEK will perform in the coming days.
