Right after the teaser’s release, Vetri Maaran was trashed and trolled by a section of people online.

The Bad Girl teaser indicates that the film deals with several taboo topics, and the lead character is portrayed as a Brahmin.
This has triggered right-wing audiences, leading to Vetri Maaran facing heavy criticism on social media. Some have commented that filmmakers like Vetri Maaran are biased toward the left wing and directly attack right-wing ideologies, which they claim disrupts societal harmony.

While many have raised such criticisms, Vetri Maaran’s detractors have seized the opportunity to call him one of the most overrated directors in Kollywood, arguing that his movies create unnecessary controversy.
On the other hand, many have supported Vetri Maaran, accusing right-wing groups of getting triggered by the truth he portrays in his films without sugarcoating reality.
