After the failures of their last films, the star directors of Kollywood, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Karthik Subbaraj, have not yet announced their next projects. However, sources suggest that both of them have already started shooting for their next films with emerging actors.
Both Gautham Vasudev Menon and Karthik Subbaraj were once the most wanted directors of Kollywood and continuously collaborated with the top-tier actors of the industry. However, because of the failure of their recent films, both directors are now struggling to sustain themselves and are pushing hard to make a comeback.
According to reports, after Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, Gautham Vasudev Menon took a short break and has now started shooting for his next film starring actor Santhosh in the lead role, who recently debuted with the film Double Occupancy. The shooting of this film started in Chennai last week and the official announcement regarding this is expected soon.
On the other hand, after the terrible failure of Retro, director Karthik Subbaraj has completed the shooting for his untitled indie film starring emerging actors, but as of now, there aren’t any official updates about the project. Meanwhile, after completing the indie film, Karthik Subbaraj has now started filming his next movie starring Atharvaa, Upendra and Prabhu Deva playing the lead roles.
In response to this news, many Kollywood audiences are feeling sad for these directors because they feel both directors deserved to be legendary commercial filmmakers in Kollywood and should work with top stars, but because of recent failures, both of them are now struggling.
Additionally, they believe that both of them have solid potential and claim that although their last films Retro and Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse ended up as failures, both films featured the unique treatments of their respective directors. Hence, they claim that both directors are still in form and hope that they will make a solid comeback with their upcoming films.
Ultimately, there are still no official updates on these projects and all these are just social media speculations. Therefore, it remains to be seen when the official updates regarding these projects will drop and how both films are going to take shape.
