Good Bad Ugly (GBU), starring Ajith Kumar in the lead role and directed by Adhik Ravichandran, was released in theatres on April 10th and has received mixed responses from audiences.
Despite the reviews, GBU has a strong hold on the box office collections in Tamil Nadu, and trade experts are predicting that if the same trend continues, GBU will surpass Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu collections and become the highest-grossing movie for the actor in his entire career.
GBU was produced by Mythri Movie Makers, and this movie is their debut in Kollywood. Following this, some social media users commented that Telugu producers are consistently delivering the biggest grossers for Kollywood actors.
Starting with Vijay’s Varisu, which was produced by Dil Raju and ended up as a huge blockbuster in Tamil Nadu—after Varisu, Dhanush’s Vaathi was produced by Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments, and now Mythri Movie Makers have produced Ajith Kumar’s GBU.
Apart from these collaborations, Mythri Movie Makers are producing their second movie in Kollywood, which is an untitled project starring Pradeep Ranganathan, and according to buzz, Sithara Entertainments is set to produce Suriya and Venky Atluri’s untitled project.
It remains to be seen whether these movies also become blockbuster successes and whether the Telugu producers’ success streak continues in the Kollywood industry.
