The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections have brought a big surprise. Actor turned politician Vijay and his party, Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), are leading in over 100 seats. They are very close to reaching the majority mark which is a historic moment because it shows that people are looking for a change in the state.
This massive win has started a debate about his upcoming film, Jana Nayagan which is scheduled for a release on May 8. Many people believe this will be Vijay’s last appearance in cinema since he is now a major political figure and he’ll have a lot of responsibilities to fulfill.
One big question is whether this movie will work on a Pan India level. Since Vijay’s Leo collected moderately in hindi belt, there are speculations that his next might do well in hindi as well because of his increasing popularity. But fact is that even though Vijay is a known face in Hindi belt due to his dubbed movies on satellite. His political views don’t align with the people of North hence his political influence in North is very minimal or non existent.
