Nayanthara’s Double Disaster: Audiences Feel Cheated?

Nayanthara and Kavin in Hi movie

Kollywood film Hi starring Nayanthara and Kavin in the lead roles and directed by debutant Vishnu Edavan, was released in theatres on August 28th and has received mixed responses from audiences and critics alike.

Since Nayanthara herself has produced this film, she did solid promotions for it through interviews and participating in events. Consequently, Hi has had a decent pre-release hype among the audience.

However, Hi has ended up as a disappointment for viewers. Many who watched the film Hi have suggested that it is just a mediocre film and except for the good acting performances of Kavin and Nayanthara, it didn’t have any major positives.

While the general audience’s reviews are below average to average, many Kollywood trackers and influencers have highly appreciated the film, claiming it to be the best feel-good movie in recent times.

People who believed those reviews from influencers and Kollywood trackers went to watch the film in theatres and ended up highly disappointed. Subsequently, social media has been flooded with tweets and posts thrashing the influencers who gave super positive responses to Hi.

Some users have stated that Hi is a huge scam by influencer groups and is just a boring, lifeless movie. Furthermore, they feel that influencers and trackers should not support such paid campaigns and cheat the audience.

Meanwhile, due to the back to back failures of Bloody Beggar and Mask, Kavin’s fans believed that at least Hi would emerge as a successful venture and bring relief to the actor. However, Hi has also ended up as a failure and Kavin now needs a solid comeback to hold his market in the industry.

On the other hand, already, Toxic is on its way to ending up as a terrible disaster. In this case, with the mixed reviews and the paid review controversy Hi adds more trouble for Nayanthara.

Overall, with the mixed word of mouth, it remains to be seen how Hi is going to perform at the box office and whether it will at least cross the break-even mark in its final run.
