Tamil producer arrested in Chennai case

A shocking incident in Chennai has sparked widespread discussion on social media. A Tamil film producer and two women photographers were arrested for allegedly attempting to exploit a popular Tamil television actress under the pretext of a casting couch opportunity.

According to reports, the 31-year-old television actress was contacted by producer Nandi Ramanathan, who claimed he was casting the female lead for his upcoming feature film. He reportedly asked her to attend a photoshoot at a lodge on Kaveri Street in Saligramam, Chennai, as part of the selection process.

After reaching the lodge, the actress was photographed and filmed by two women photographers using cameras and mobile phones. Reports state that one of the photographers claimed the role involved portraying a deity and said there should be no scars visible on her body. She allegedly asked the actress to remove her clothes and pose nude for the photoshoot.

The actress reportedly sensed that something was wrong and refused the demand. An argument followed between her, the producer and the two photographers. She then left the lodge immediately and informed the police control room about the incident.

An all-women police team quickly reached the location and arrested the producer along with the two women photographers. Police also registered a case against them under three sections.

According to some reports, a seven-year-old girl was also present at the lodge during the incident. While the three adults were remanded, police reportedly shifted the girl to a government shelter home in Adyar.

The incident has triggered strong reactions on social media. Many users are demanding strict action against the accused. Several people also believe such incidents damage the reputation of the entire film industry. The case continues to attract attention as more people share their views online.
