A data compilation by the website AltIndex.com has revealed that Google Pay has several times more users in India than in the US or UK.
The reason for this is very simple, the digital growth since Jio came into the market some 7 years ago had changed everything.
Digital payments through UPI (Unified Payments Interface) has become a staple and necessity for Indians as it is quick, hassle free and doesn’t charge any commission on the transactions made.
UPI is one of the biggest advancements in digital payments in the world due to its working model and easy to use nature.
The survey revealed that eight out of ten users in India used Google Pay for online transactions rather than the rival app.
But, in the US the number is 33% i.e. only one in three and 25% in the UK. One of the reasons for this might be the high number of iPhone users in the two countries which has its own payment app, Apple Pay. While in India, the majority is of Android users.
The number may increase in the future as more Indians start using digital payments.
