In a viral video surfacing from Pune’s IT hub, Hinjawadi, shocking visuals emerged as a crowd of approximately 3,000 engineers outside an IT firm. Lined up in a queue, the individuals were all in search of a mere walk-in drive for the position of a junior developer.
The video highlights the zeal of the aspiring candidates, but also serves as a ringing bell showing how competitive the job market has become.
With over 2,900 resumes highly qualified individuals submitting their resumes during the event, it is to be noted where the level of unemployment has reached in the country, that too when you’re a well qualified and educated person.
Social platform X, formerly known as Twitter caught the fire like burning oil and the video went viral in a matter of minutes. Reaching over a million views in a singke day, the comment section of the video was flooded with users expressing a mix of concern, humor, and advice.
One user exclaimed just how bad the job market is, and was supported by many in the thread showing how many individuals share the same sentiment of anxiety and fear.
Amidst the concerns, some users offered words of encouragement and advice. One insightful comment highlighted that queues of this magnitude were not uncommon for fresh graduates. The user advised against getting demotivated, emphasizing that passion for knowledge could ultimately lead individuals to
Some users however, also took the route of humour giving us the much needed comic relief by pointing out suggesting that they all must be toppers standing in the queue because backbenchers are used to finding their own way. One user added that they must be the middle benchers as the toppers are used to getting placed from campus only.
In conclusion, the viral video shows that there is a fight for jobs in all sectors of the country and taking the traditional route is often not the way which will guarantee one success. If we were to look at the unemployment statistics, they have fallen by two percent and it is high time that we start searching for alternatives and more creative methods.
