With elections happening worldwide, Google is paying more attention to ads related to voting.
In 2024, nearly three billion people in democratic countries like India and the US will vote. Technology, like Artificial Intelligence (AI), is changing how we use digital media, but it also brings problems like fake news and scams.
Google released its Ads Safety Report to show how it’s fighting ad fraud and keeping people safe. They removed over 5.5 billion bad ads and 12.7 million accounts in 2023.
They also stopped ads from showing on over 2.1 billion websites that broke their rules. Google is using AI more to catch bad ads quickly.
To stop scams, Google started a policy called Limited Ads Serving. This limits ads from new advertisers until Google knows they’re trustworthy. They removed millions of misleading ads and ads promoting scams.
During elections, Google checks ads to make sure they’re honest. They verify advertisers and make them say who paid for the ad. Google took down millions of election ads in 2023 from advertisers who didn’t follow the rules.
Google tries to make its rules fair for everyone. They adjust some rules based on laws in different countries. They want to make sure ads are truthful and don’t harm democracy.
