Musk’s X Gets Win Over Meta’s Instagram

Elon Musk

In a surprising twist in the ever-evolving realm of social media, X, formerly known as Twitter has emerged as the reigning champion, outpacing Instagram in terms of user engagement.

The microblogging platform, known for its real-time updates and succinct communication style, has witnessed a surge in activity since the month of April, leaving its visual-centric counterpart in the dust.

Since his acquisition of Twitter back in 2022, Musk has implemented some major changes to the social platform, including rebranding it as X, retiring the iconic bird logo and reducing its workforce by approximately 80 percent. All these changes were expected to have had a negative toll on the app’s performance but the data shared in his latest post shows the contrary.

While X may has performed better than some people had anticipated, the biggest feat is it outperforming Instagram, the platform owned by Meta; a behemoth in the social media industry.

This accomplishment goes down as a major event in modern day scenario as X, besides Reddit is one of the few platforms which has not succumbed to the authority of Meta and is one of the final hopes of information not being wholly regulated.

Reacting to the post, users were quick to flood the comment section with their own reactions with a pinch of sarcasm.

One user, expressing his delight on the news and taking a dig on Threads, the Instagram counterpart to Twitter asked if anyone remembered Threads, “The X Killer” while another said that Elon, at this stage, should be deemed the person of the year.
