After 4G and 5G, India is set to enter the world of satellite internet communication with Elon Musk’s Starlink. The company is going to debut very soon in the Indian market in which it will face steep competition from Reliance Jio and Airtel. Starlink is expected to increase the network connectivity in rural and difficult areas of the country.
Starlink is expected to receive its license to operate soon once all the regulatory checks and tests are performed. The approval will be issued finally by the Satellite Communication Wing after an approval has been issued by the Department of Telecommunications.
Musk’s Starlink is expected to give a download speed between 25 and 220 Mbps. Upload speed will be between 5 to 20 Mbps. When compared with 5G, Starlink is slower and more close to the speed of 4G networks. However, its wide range connectivity is an advantage over traditional network communication.
Another important question that surrounds everyone is how much it will cost. Although the official pricing will not be revealed until a license has been approved, it is expected that it will not be cheap. There will be a one time equipment cost associated with the connection as well.
