The app will be killed off within a week for Android TVs. Google wants to push YouTube as its primary platform for videos and content on smart TVs.

The purchased or rented titles will still be available on the devices through the shop tab. The same content can also be accessed through the web with your Google account. Coming January 17, the app will not be available on your smart TVs.
