In the world of information, Artificial Intelligence chatbots are thriving for their conveniency, adaptability and accessibility, but one might wonder what will happen when such sources stop providing reliable and unbiased data? Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has ended up becoming an example of this.

Google Gemini is an AI Chatbot which generates image and text based responses to user’s input. However, it has recently been criticised for producing inaccurate, biased, and offensive content.

Launched in February, 2024, Gemini was supposed to be Google’s yet most advanced AI model, but it rather has sparked outrage and criticism from users.

Consequently, Alphabet has witnessed a staggering loss of over $70 billion while their stock prices decreased by 4.4 percent within a day. Some analyst are raising issues regarding this damaging Google’s reputation as reliable source for AI.

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis addressed the situation, announcing that Gemini’s image generating feature would be paused for a “few weeks.” Hassabis acknowledged that the feature was not functioning as intended and was creating racially incorrect and controversial recreations of historic figures like image of female pope and black George Washington.
