If you are a Spotify premium user then you probably know that once you get to experience the ad free version of the app, there’s no going back to the free version. Unlike other streaming platforms, Spotify’s subscriber base is very unlikely to dwindle as music becomes sustenance for many of us without which it is harder to survive. But is it going to get expensive listening to your favorite artists on Spotify?
Spotify is likely to increase the prices of the plans it offers in the United States. The hiked prices may be introduced later in the year. This announcement has created speculations whether there will be a price hike in India as well. Spotify’s subscriber base in India is growing gradually and hiking the price can be a counterproductive move as it may deter new users from getting on the premium plan.
The hiked prices will be for the premium plan which includes audiobooks as well. Spotify is going to introduce a base plan with only music and podcasts at the price of the current plan. The new rates will be applicable in other countries like Australia and Pakistan as well.
There will be an increase of $1 for the individual plan and $2 for the family and duo plan in the American market. The base price of subscription differs greatly in the US and India and such a steep hike might not be seen here.
