Reliance Now Ready To Enter Into UPI Market

The Jio Soundbox, a function akin to the Paytm Soundbox available in stores, is being introduced by Jio. With this action, Jio hopes to expand its business reach and give customers a smooth payment experience by improving upon its current Jio Pay App.

Before the Jio Soundbox was launched in urban marketplaces throughout the group’s retail outlets, it underwent testing in tier 2 cities like Jaipur, Indore, and Lucknow.

The gadget has a set monthly rental fee and is charged at the time of purchase. Due to their ability to function as point of sale (POS) devices for transactions including QR codes, sound boxes are proving to be a profitable revenue stream for fintech companies.

In order to facilitate loan offerings based on this data, they provide auditory warnings and insightful information on merchant behaviour.

Although Jio’s soundbox costs are unknown at this time, a competitive price point could cause a significant market disruption. The smartphone is available on Paytm for Re1, with a monthly fee of Rs 125.

PhonePe rents for Rs 49 per month, and BharatPe has made significant inroads into the soundbox market. Paytm is the market leader in India, where soundboxes are used by over 20 million merchants.
