Have you ever wondered why we don’t see Tesla vehicles in India?
It’s because the import taxes for cars in India are significantly higher, but hopefully, things are going to change soon.
Led by Elon Musk, Tesla the electronic vehicle manufacturing giant is discussing with the Indian government to set up a factory in India. Due to high tax rates tesla vehicles which are already expensive, do not hold to be a great deal in India. Therefore, by localization of Tesla factories, the goal is to manufacture electric vehicles (EVs) in India itself and make them more affordable for Indian customers.
By installing manufacturing factories in India, the company will be able to produce up to 500,000 EVs each year, also at an affordable price of Rs 20-25 lakhs. This move could greatly help India’s growing EV market and India might also emerge as a huge market for Tesla.
According to the experts, this Tesla’s plan of venturing into one of the world’s greatest emerging markets can result in a positive outcome. As they are in talks with India’s commerce and industry ministry. If everything goes well this ambitious collaboration between India and Tesla can make India as one of the prominent automobile manufacturing countries.
