The trend of trying to churn out as much money as possible out of the users is increasing exponentially. Subscription-based service is the new method to get people hooked and make them keep paying for access to the same technology. But OpenAI has started swimming against the stream, and done something really unexpected. The features, previously available only in the premium version of ChatGPT-4o will now be accessible in the free version of ChatGPT as well.
Some speculate that the recent controversy with the Sky Voice has become a bad PR for the company and this move will help replenish the gap between the company and its target consumer, which in the long run benefits the company.
The voice assistant feature will now be available for free to all the users and OpenAI has decided to discontinue the Sky voice completely. Functions like browse, vision, data analysis, file uploads, and GPTs will now be freely accessible to all.
This ‘Voice’ feature is fairly simple to use and already has gained a lot of traction due to its high usability. Similar to any voice assistant this also can be accessed with a single tap and used through speech without any physical input.
