Unlike broken hearts, phone displays will soon be able to heal themselves, as reports suggest that this day isn’t too far off.
This technology isn’t out of this world, as LG introduced the concept back in 2013 with their phone, the G Flex, featuring front and back panels that repaired themselves.
One reputable tech source reports that phone companies are revisiting self-healing technology for screen implementation. Lately, smartphone screens, both Android and Apple, have become more durable.
However, this new feature will help them deal with smaller damages effortlessly. A nano coating on the screen will generate new material when exposed to air and moisture.
Of course, this technology won’t be able to completely fix shattered screens but can easily make small scratches disappear.
Companies like Motorola and Apple have applied for numerous patents related to self-healing display technology. There’s also a chance that Apple might include this technology in their upcoming foldable iPhone.
Although upon its introduction to the market, this feature will likely be limited to flagship phones due to the high costs. However, as with most features, in the upcoming years, mid-range and entry-level phones will also get a taste of this technology.
